Online Day of Farewell Bell

This year, due to the dangerous epidemiological situation for graduates of Russia, the Day of Farewell Bell will be an online event. Graduates and teachers from different regions of Russia will take part in the All-Russian campaign ‘Day of Farewell Bell – 2020’, which the Ministry of Education of Russia, together with the International Association of Student Television and the Russian Schoolchildren Movement, conducts in support of graduates of the country.

In 2020, 3079 Izhevsk eleventh-graders will graduate from 86 schools of the city. But due to the restrictive measures, the traditional format of the holiday will be held online on May 30.

Everyone will be able to watch the 1.5 hour broadcast of ‘Day of Farewell Bell – 2020’. Congratulations to the Minister of Education and Science of the Udmurt Republic, highest officials of the city, headmasters and parents, musical and dancing concerts, and even a school waltz can be performed online for our graduates,’ Natalya Gvozdkova, the Head of Department of education, announced.

On social networks, graduates say words of gratitude to teachers, remembering funny moments during their studies. On the school sites, graduates post interactive graduation albums with many photographs from the life of the graduating classes and shoot videos in which they talk about their school years, the best school, professional teachers, caring parents and, of course, beloved classmates.

The most interesting stories, excerpts from photo albums and videos will be broadcasted on May 30.

Despite such an unusual format, graduates were actively involved in preparing for the Day of Farewell Bell.

‘Our special graduation will be remembered for many years, this is a chance to get into history! At first, we, of course, were upset. But we understand that this is, above all, concern for our health. And the joint creation of a video, photo album rallied classmates even more,’ one of the graduates Chulkina Elizaveta, a student of 11 ‘A’ class of Lyceum № 29, shared her impressions.

‘I remember September 1 of my first year at school. I stood with a huge bouquet of flowers and, looking at the graduates, dreamed of being in their place. Today our school path has been completed. Unfortunately, we cannot stand today on the ground of our own schoolyard listening to the Sounds of an Ageless Waltz, wearing red ribbons with the proud inscription ‘Graduate’, and, holding hands with classmates, experience a storm of emotions. I urge the country's graduates to always remember the rule of three ‘Never Forget’: teachers – our school parents, classmates – true friends, school – our second home, in which we spent most of our lives. I want to wish my peers to remain optimistic and go only forward,’ Mikhail Smirnov, a student of 11 ‘A’ class of School № 19, said. At the end of the monologue, in Mikhail rang the bell in his hands – a symbol of farewell to the school.

The format of this touching holiday is practised for the first time due to certain circumstances. I think ‘Day of Farewell Bell – 2020’ will go down in the history of the country. We are eternally grateful that today we had the opportunity to take part in this event online, to say thanks to the school, our teachers, and classmates. I wish graduates to believe in themselves, in miracles, in success and maintain a spirit of optimism,’ Liliana Khanova, a student of 11 ‘A’ class of School № 34, shared in the video.

Final exams are ahead of the children, as well as the choice of an educational institution, an interesting adult life with its joys and difficulties.
